African American Chamber hosts banquet
Dr. Lydia Cruz tapped for Lifetime Achievement Award

VICTORVILLE — Executives, community leaders and contributors
will be honored at the Victor Valley African American Chamber of Commerce seventh annual awards banquet on Saturday.

Stone, California's state commissioner of economic development, will be the keynote speaker at this year's banquet, themed
"Wealth, Health and Prosperity."
Stone is the president and CEO of the California Black Chamber of Commerce. He will
speak on the need to be "bold, innovative, and creative and move on faith," according to a prepared statement by the VVAACC.
An expanse of awards, including themes such as humanitarian, education, journalism and unity will be given out.
Dr.
Lydia Cruz is the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award. Cruz has practiced medicine for 31 years. She works for Victor
Valley Community Hospital and serves on its foundation's board.
"Basically, I just take care of the sick," Cruz said
modestly.
Sandra Munson and Annie Munn will also each receive the VVAACC Lifetime Service Award.
Honorees for
the President's Award include: Aliene Cammon, Melva Davis, Alton Garret, Phyllis Morris, Dr. Prem Reddy, Marlene Snider, Michael
Townsend and the Tatum family.
The banquet will be at the Victorville Ramada
Inn at 6 p.m. Tickets are $50 a person and $90 a couple and include entry into a drawing.
